Our
Curriculum

All teachings at IACS are based on the Shia faith. We use the Holy Qur'an and Al-Kisa Kids curriculum as our foundation and modify or build upon it based on the specific needs and developmental levels of our students.

A day at IACS

Qur’an Circle
10:00 - 10:20 am

At the start of each day, students and teachers gather for a Qur’an Circle—a time to ground themselves spiritually, mentally, and physically before learning. Together, we recite verses from the Holy Qur’an and reflect on their meanings through the teachings of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them). This daily practice nurtures focus, inner peace, and a shared commitment to learning with purpose.

Assembly
10:20 - 10:30 am

Each day begins with Assembly, where students line up with their classmates to foster unity and discipline. During this time, staff share important announcements, and a volunteer student recites from the Holy Qur’an. After the recitation, students also read the IACS Pledge, affirming their values and commitment to learning. The gathering concludes with sending salutations to Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) by reciting Duʿāʾ al-Faraj. From there, students transition into their Islamic Studies classes, centered and spiritually prepared to learn.

Islamic Studies
10:30 - 12:00 pm

In Islamic Studies classes, students learn the Ahkām (practical rulings) that guide how to live as a faithful Shia Muslim. They explore core beliefs, values, and manners inspired by the lives of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) and the Imams (peace be upon them). Through engaging group discussions, creative projects, and individual reflections, students deepen their understanding of faith and learn how to embody Islamic teachings in their daily lives.

Lunch
12:00 - 12:30 pm

A nutritious, halal lunch is provided by the school each day. Lunch time offers students an opportunity to relax, socialize, and strengthen their bonds with fellow Shia classmates in a warm and welcoming environment. To support our green initiatives and discourage isrāf (wastefulness), students are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles. This shared time not only nourishes the body but also nurtures community and mindfulness.

Qur'an Class
12:30 - 1:30 pm

In Qur’an Class, students learn to read and connect with the words of Allah. They study the Arabic alphabet, practice connecting letters and reading passages, and explore the meanings and stories within the Qur’an. Alongside reading skills, students are taught proper adab—the manners of handling, respecting, and approaching the Qur’an with reverence. Through guided lessons and reflection, they build both fluency and a heartfelt connection to the Holy Book.

Jama'a Prayer
1:30 - 2:00 pm

Each day, students and staff gather to perform ṣalāt al-jamāʿa (congregational prayer). During this sacred time, students not only participate in prayer but also learn the ahkām—the rulings and etiquettes—related to praying in congregation. Standing shoulder to shoulder, all face the Qibla together as one community, experiencing unity, humility, and spiritual connection through this beautiful act of worship. Parents are warmly welcome to join their children and experience this meaningful ritual together, strengthening the bond between home, school, and faith.

Dismissal
2:00 pm

Dismissal takes place promptly at 2:00 p.m. Parents are asked to arrive on time and may remain in their cars while staff call students to the door. To ensure every child’s safety, students will only be released once staff have visually confirmed the parent or authorized guardian. This organized process helps maintain a calm, secure, and efficient end to the school day.
